Toast The NFU’s Centenary
with a case of celebratory beer!
Beer Club of Britain members can toast the centenary of the National Farmers’ Union with a bottle or two of a new beer brewed especially to mark the occasion.
Farmers Harvest was the brainchild of Ken Sutherland, the NFU's director of finance and internal services, and is now on sale through the club's website, which means members can raise a glass to 100 years of the country's leading farming organisation.
“This will be the first alcoholic beverage to carry the Red Tractor mark, which means the beer has been produced here in the UK using British malt and hops – and it meets tough standards that are subject to independent inspections.”

The beer, which has been created by Warwickshire–based brewery Purity, went from an idea to reality in less than 18 months and the name Farmers Harvest seemed a natural choice, Mr Sutherland said.
“We were mulling over all sorts of names. Of course, farmer had to be in there somewhere and harvest is a celebration of the fruits of the countryside, so the two seemed to be the perfect match.”
The beer is unique because it will be the first alcoholic beverage to carry the Red Tractor assurance mark, which signifies that the ale has been brewed in the UK using malt and hops produced to high standards on farm and checked by independent inspections.
Paul Halsey, sales director at Purity Brewing Company, said; ''We were delighted to link up with the NFU on this project. Farmers Harvest is a full flavoured beer with an ABV of 4.8 per cent and a great balance of sweetness and bitterness. Its fruity taste really does deliver a memorable finish to a truly superb ale which is the ideal way to toast 100 years of the NFU.''
