Joseph Holt has been a family brewery since the middle of the 19th Century and today is run by the great grandson of the founder. It's a bastion of brewing in the North West, preserving its independence and relying on a reputation for quality, highly drinkable beers.

About the beer ...

Originally brewed in 1999 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the brewery, and due to popular demand within Joseph Holt managed Houses 1849 continues to be bottled in addition to the other bottled ales.  A very fresh, hoppy ale brewed in a very traditional way with a pleasant subtle after taste.
