St George's Day Collection

On April 23rd, England recognizes it's 'National Day' and remembers St. George, the patron saint of England.  And what better way to celebrate the nation's heritage than with a truly English collection of thirst-quenching ales...

Join with us in celebration and enjoy this magnificent St. George's Day Collection, boasting six of the most English beers in the land...

Liberation Ale, Thwaites Brewery, Blackburn, Lancashire – 5.2% 500ml

Liberation Ale is an amber coloured ale with toffee and subtle sweet flavours, a silky-smooth taste with a lingering dry bitter finish. A beer to be remembered!

Moonlight, Arkells Brewery, Swindon – 4.3% 500ml

This beer has been brewed using a special blend of malts and English Fuggles and Susan hops to give a beautiful golden colour, lingering taste and toasty aroma.

Ruddles County, Greene King Brewery, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk – 4.7% 500ml

Ruddles County is famed for its dry, bitter flavour, which comes from using the rare Bramling Cross hops. Many liken the flavour to burnt toffee and caramel which, when combined with the dry bitterness, gives a very pleasing taste. Ruddles County has a light, inviting aroma of soft fruits and hops, and is a deep brown colour with warm, reddish tones. It really is the ultimate bitter-lovers’ bitter.

Lionheart, Hampshire Brewery, Romsey, Hampshire – 4.5% 500ml

A brilliant golden traditional English Ale, with the style of a Continental beer, it has loads of fresh fruit and a malty fragrance. The light colour and hints of malt grain are achieved with the predominant use of lager malts. The warm fruit fullness from a beer brewed with traditional Ale yeast are combined with the floral-spice aroma of European hops and a give a subtle hoppy finish.

Maple Moon, Joseph Holt Brewery, Manchester – 4.8% 500ml

A well-balanced, tasty, dark golden ale with a unique maple flavouring – there are no other maple flavoured premium bottled ales in the market place. Cascade hops make their presence felt through tell-tale grapefruit notes, but are not too strident. A pleasant balance comes from smooth malt and the finish is dry, nicely bitter and moreishly hoppy. A refreshingly original night time pleasure with a subtle link to food.

Farmer’s Harvest, Purity Brewing Company, Warwickshire – 4.8% 500ml

Farmers Harvest is a full flavoured beer with an ABV of 4.8% and a great balance of sweetness and bitterness. Its fruity taste really does deliver a memorable finish to a truly superb ale which is the ideal way to toast 100 years of the NFU.

So join with us today in celebrating all that is good about England and raise a glass (or tankard) to our patron saint, St. George!
