About the Brewery ...

At the end of the First World War, brewer Albert Moortgat created a beer originally baptized “Victory Ale”. A friend tasted it and exclaimed "Nen echten Duvel" ("A true Devil") and hence the name. Albert wanted a beer to compare with English ales and so sourced his yeast from Scotland. Cultivated yeast from the same source is still being used today.

About the Beer ...

Today, Duvel is a classic world-rated beer and the epitome of blond, high strength, bottle conditioned beers. Very pale in colour, the beer invites you in with its welcoming bouquet and large, foamy head. The nose is rich in vanilla, fruit and spice. Smooth, light and lively on the tongue, the strength of this beer is not apparent until the hops and malt come through at the finish.
