About the Brewery …

Anchor Steam Brewery was on the verge of closing its doors when it was bought by Fritz Maytag in 1965. It took 10 years, but the business was finally back on its feet and moved to a 1930’s Art Deco building that remains home to this fine craft brewer today.  This beer is virtually handmade from an all-malt mash in Anchor's handcrafted copper brewhouse.

About the Beer …

Steam beer is unique to San Francisco, where it was first created during the Gold Rush.  Due to high natural carbonation in the casks meant that gas would escape with a hiss that sounded like steam. This is a beautiful bronze beer with a thick, creamy head, nutty aromas and full bodied palate. Citrus fruit and tangy hops are followed by a lingering finish and a bitter aftertaste.
